The Hip Hop Forever concert lineup has been announced by Hot 97 and WBLS to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
Curated by legendary DJ, Funk Flex, the one-day concert is set for Friday, Sept. 15, at Madison Square Garden in New York. Mary J. Blige and Tyrese are part of the performance lineup.
Blige has a vast selection of hip-hop songs, both as a lead and featured artist, which she can include in her setlist for this show. Her latest album, Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe), features collaborations with artists such as Remy Ma, Fivio Foreign, Dave East, and DJ Khaled.
Tyrese can include songs from his 2006 double album, Alter Ego, which features a side dedicated to his hip-hop alter ego, Black-Ty. He may even perform his latest hit single “Don’t Think You Ever Loved Me.”
Slated to join the lineup as special guests are music icon Mariah Carey and R&B legend Maxwell.
Carey has achieved great success with her hip-hop-influenced songs, such as the smash “Fantasy.” Her Butterfly album, which she recently expanded for its 25th anniversary, also showcases more of this style.
Presale begins June 15 at 10 a.m. local time with the code: THEBIGSHOW50. Tickets go on sale to the public June 16 at 10 a.m. local time.
