Mary J. Blige Releases New Song ‘Hourglass’

Mary J. Blige has shared the end credits song “Hourglass” heard in her new Amazon Prime documentary Mary J. Blige’s My Lifenow streaming. 

The piano ballad was co-written by Teddy Riley, Andy Murray, Benjamin Wright, and RØMANS and produced by the latter. It finds Blige probing about what-ifs and how regrets and uncertainty only stand in the way of living. 

“Hourglass” is the first new song from Blige since reimagining Wham!’s 1984 holiday classic “Last Christmas.” Before that, she collaborated with Dave East for “Know How I Feel” and Busta Rhymes for “You Will Never Find Another Me.” Also, Blige shared “See What You’ve Done,” an original song penned for the Belly of the Beast documentary. 

In terms of a new album, Blige has been tight-lipped about a release date or title. She revealed in previous interviews that at least two-three albums are in the works, with expected songwriting and production from DJ Camper, Murder Beatz, Blush Writes, and Prince Charlez, to name a few.  

On July 9, Blige will appear on Jam & Lewis’ debut album Jam & Lewis, Vol. 1. The song is called “Spinnin.”
