R&B

Mary J. Blige has announced her 14th studio album will release in November. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul shared the news on Instagram Live with D-Nice on Tuesday night.

“It’s about to go crazy over here,” she told D-Nice, while she was at a studio. Blige also revealed that the first single is set to drop in October.

The album was originally scheduled to release in late 2020. She explained to the Los Angeles Times, “It’s about life, love, struggle, but mostly triumph. Because I’m learning how to rejoice in the valleys and the droughts.”

Blige’s upcoming album will follow 2017’s Strength of a Woman, which included the Jazmine Sullivan-penned single “Thick of It.”

Not much is known about the impending project. However, Blige has been spotted in the studio with DJ Camper (Brandy, Tamar Braxton), Blush Writes (K. Michelle, Chris Brown), Prince Charlez (Rihanna, Beyoncé), and Murda Beatz(Migos, Drake).

In other news, Blige will reprise her role as Monet Tejada in Power Book II: Ghost. Season two will premiere on Sunday, November 21, 2021, on  Starz.

Watch Blige’s announcement at the 24:00 mark.
