Songbird Supreme Mariah Carey has recruited Jamaican pop artist Shenseea and R&B sensation Kehlani for her new single “Sugar Sweet.” It was co-produced by Carey and HARV, with co-writing contributions from Felisha King Harvey of Cherish.

The candy-coated track is packed with flirtatious charm, perfect for the summer season. “Walk to the car and there you are / Can’t explain the rush that I feel / Open up the door, you pull me towards you / Then you put your lips on me,” Carey sings in the opening verse.

Kehlani heats things up in verse two, singing: “Only you can make it drip that kinda way / baby come in handy.” Shenseea matches the energy in the closing verse, “I’m full of sugar, come get a rush from me / I got what you like, what you wanna beat.”

“Sugar Sweet” is the second single from Carey’s 16th album, Here For It All, releasing Sept. 26 via MARIAH/gamma.

The highly anticipated album will also include the lead single, “Type Dangerous,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales and R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales charts.

Carey co-wrote and co-produced the trunk-rattling tack, which samples Eric B. & Rakim’s “Eric B. Is President,” with Daniel Moore and N.W.I. (Anderson .Paak, Jairus Mozee and Jason Pounds).

Regarding “Type Dangerous,” Carey noted, “I’m so excited to finally be releasing ‘Type Dangerous’ into the world. I’ve been locked up in the studio for quite some time working my behind off on new music, and I’m thrilled for the unveiling of it to my fans, starting with ‘Type Dangerous’!”

According to Carey’s official online store, Here For It All “is a rich, genre-blending body of work that pays tribute to every era of Mariah that fans know and love, while introducing new collaborators and modern influences that allow the music to seamlessly span generations.”

Here For It All is the follow-up to Carey’s 2018 album Caution, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.

As for Kehlani, the Grammy-nominated singer released her latest single “Folded” on June 11. The soulful track was co-produced by Andra Harris, D.K. the Punisher, Don Mills and Khris Riddick-Tynes.

Folded” landed a top 10 debut on multiple Billboard charts, including R&B Streaming Songs (No. 5), Hot R&B Songs (No. 7) and R&B Digital Song Sales (No. 8).

Shenseea released her sophomore album, Never Gets Late Here, in May 2024. It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album at the 67th Grammy Awards.

Earlier this year, she teamed with Ghanaian singer Moliy and producer Silent Addy on their “Shake It to the Max (FLY) – Remix” with Jamaican artist Skillibeng. The Afropop track has garnered over 216 million streams on Spotify since its release on Feb. 21.
