MaKenzie Releases ‘A Pretty F**king Cool EP’

R&B

R&B newcomer MaKenzie has released her debut project, A Pretty F**king Cool EP, via Warner Records.

The four-track set includes the previously shared “Maybe” featuring TA Thomas, “Lips,” and “Velvet.”

“To me, A Pretty F**king Cool EP is simply: pretty f**king cool,” says MaKenzie. “It’s a small compilation of some of my first experiences writing and creating with people who are as passionate and talented as I am. It’s a journey and hopefully a project that gives everybody a little something to enjoy.”

Every song on the project was produced by Rob Knox (Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys). “Working on this EP with Rob Knox has been a real adventure filled with lots of fun musical twists and turns,” MaKenzie tells Rated R&B. “I just hope that those who listen can hear that and understand why I couldn’t call it anything other than pretty f**king cool.“

The EP’s sole new track, “Cashmere,” is a plush groove where MaKenzie tells off a part-time lover. “Baby, you just wanna taste me, call it candy / But you can’t unless you’re payin’ full price / Told you for the very, very last time / Now I’m cuttin’ off your supply,” she sings in the second verse.

A Pretty F**king Cool EP arrives three years after the former The Voice contestant released a covers project, Note For Note. The six-track EP included the Kentucky-born singer’s take on songs like “Let It Burn” by Jazmine Sullivan and The Supreme’s “You Can’t Hurry Love.”
