Maeta’s breakout single “Though The Night,” featuring Free Nationals, remains atop Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart for a second week.
The song first reached the top spot in the chart dated March 30, marking Maeta’s first No. 1 hit on any chart. “I’m so excited to have my first number one!” Maeta exclusively told Rated R&B. “This has been a dream of mine ever since I was little, and I want to thank everyone who has supported me thus far. There’s so much more to come very soon!”
At R&B radio this week, the soulful ballad is No. 2 after commanding the top spot over the last two weeks. The song received 1,815 spins for an audience impression of 5.9 million from March 24-30.
According to Maeta’s label, Roc Nation, “Through The Night” will impact urban mainstream radio next week.
“Through The Night” is the latest single from Maeta’s 2023 EP, When I Hear Your Name. It was produced by Camper, Omar Grant, and Jose Manuel Rios, with writing support from Lucky Daye and Elijah Blake.
Speaking on the EP and “Through The Night,” Maeta told Rated R&B: “It ends with ‘Through the Night’ because it’s like, ‘Let’s just put all the bullsh*t aside. We’re bad for each other, but right now, I just wanna make love to you.’ [When I Hear Your Name] is kind of all over the place because it just goes up and down. But when you love somebody, you kind of just deal with it.”
Maeta will open for Chris Brown on his 11:11 Tour, which kicks off in June. The two previously collaborated on “Best Ever,” a standout from Brown’s latest album, 11:11.
In other news, Maeta is gearing up to release a collaborative project with Kaytranada, who produced “Questions” on When I Hear Your Name and “Teen Scene” from 2021’s Habits.
