Maeta Scores First No. 1 on Billboard With ‘Through the Night’

R&B

Maeta has achieved her first chart-topper on Billboard.

The rising singer’s latest single “Through The Night,” featuring Free Nationals, moves to No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart this week. The sultry song first reached the top 10 in November 2023.

At R&B radio, “Through The Night” remains at No. 1 for a second consecutive week. According to Mediabase, the song received 2,098 spins for an audience impression of 6.1 million from March 17-23.

“I’m so excited to have my first number one!” Maeta exclusively tells Rated R&B. “This has been a dream of mine ever since I was little, and I want to thank everyone who has supported me thus far. There’s so much more to come very soon!”

“Through The Night” was produced by Camper and includes writing contributions from Lucky Daye and Elijah Blake. The song appears on her sophomore EP, When I Hear Your Hame, released last June on Roc Nation Records.

Speaking on the EP, Maeta told Rated R&B, “I want to show that love is complicated and it’s okay not to know why you feel the way you do. That’s one thing I’ve been trying to figure out. I think that we have to accept the fact that love is hard and complicated. And that’s what the project shows. I hope it comforts people who are going through that.”

She continued, “It ends with ‘Through the Night’ because it’s like, ‘Let’s just put all the bullsh*t aside. We’re bad for each other, but right now, I just wanna make love to you.’ [When I Hear Your Name] is kind of all over the place because it just goes up and down. But when you love somebody, you kind of just deal with it.”

Last Friday (March 22), Maeta released Through The Night (The After Hours Pack) featuring various versions of the song, including the original, instrumental, acapella and live (from the Soul Train Awards).

In other news, Maeta is gearing up to release a collaborative project with Kaytranada. She first teased the project in her interview with Rated R&B. “[There are] six songs, four written by Fallon [King] and two written by James Fauntleroy. I’m excited about that too,” she revealed.

This summer, Maeta will join Chris Brown on his 11:11 Tour.
