Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray has announced her new album, Love Songs for Big Hearts and Robots.
Set to release this fall, the album features a collection of reimagined love songs injected with Gray’s signature raspy vocals.
Regarding her upcoming project, Gray notes, “In these really uncomfortable times, music is the one thing that everybody can agree on – it’s the ONLY thing that puts us all on the same page. You go to a concert and no one gives a chit who you voted for.”
The album will include production by Stevie J, Tony Deniro, Jason Mater and Alex Lebowitz. While more details will be unveiled soon, Gray teases, “There are some wildly unexpected features on the album. You have to hear it because there’s nothing like it.”
Alongside her album announcement, Gray has released her cover of Alicia Keys‘ diamond-selling hit “No One” as the lead single. The original version, which has over a billion streams on Spotify, appears on Keys’ 2007 album, As I Am.

Love Songs for Big Hearts and Robots isn’t Gray’s first rodeo with cover albums. Her previous works include Covered (2012), a blend of rock, pop and rap, Talking Book (2012), a tribute to Stevie Wonder‘s iconic 1972 album, and Stripped (2016), a mix of her own and classics like Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”
Gray’s upcoming LP will mark her first solo album since 2018’s Ruby. In 2023, the “I Try” singer released The Reset, her joint album with her band, The California Jet Club. The album included the singles “Thinking of You,” “Undone” and “The Disco Song.”
“We wanted to put a smile on people’s faces and make them dance and cry. The best records make you feel something,” Gray told Rated R&B about the album.
Gray just launched the North American leg of her 25th Anniversary Summer Tour, which celebrates the milestone anniversary of her acclaimed debut album, On How Life Is (1999).
“When you have a big birthday, you don’t just celebrate that day. I don’t know about you, but I celebrate the whole month,” said Gray. “To me, this is just as big. I am still celebrating the record and want to invite my fans who have been with me from the start to come party with us.”
