Speaking on “HERicane,” which was released April 19, Daye shared, “This song is about being grounded in a chaotic relationship. It’s important for people to be reminded that it’s a good time to be yourself and shine. Just be grounded and fierce in who you are.”

Regarding the former song, Daye noted, “I sang my heart out on ‘That’s You.’ I felt like I was on the moon. I want people to think about that one person they just can’t be without when they listen. Hopefully, that person is a good person.”

“That’s You” debuted at No. 26 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. At the time of publication, “That’s You” is in its peak position at No. 15 on the chart.

Algorithm is the follow-up to Daye’s sophomore album, Candydrip. The Grammy-nominated album included the platinum-selling single “Over,” also nominated for a Grammy.

Candydrip debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and was ranked No. 1 on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2022 list.
