Soul vocalist Leela James has returned with her new single “Right On Time.”
Produced by frequent collaborator Rex Rideout, “Right On Time” finds James singing about a love that sweeps her off her feet at the perfect moment. It speaks to the constant nature of love, always finding us even when we least expect it.
“The way you give good love to me is right on time / And I was just about to give on up, but you came right on time,” she belts in the chorus.
James tells Rated R&B, “I am so excited to be 20 years in the game and that my music to be right on time.”
“Right On Time” follows Leela James’ “Whatcha Done Now (Remix)” with Kenyon Dixon, released in August 2024. She told Rated R&B, “Kenyon added another layer of seasoning sauce to the Soul of this record and it made for the perfect soulful R&B recipe.”
The original version of “Whatcha Done Now” is lifted from James’ 2023 album, Thought U Knew.
The album spawned the hit single “Right Back In It,” which reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. James later teamed with Kevin Ross for a remix of “Right Back In It.”
In June, James will celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut album, A Change Is Gonna Come, named after Sam Cooke’s iconic song that she also covered on the project. The album also included her debut single, “Music,” produced by The Avila Brothers.
