Ledisi Releases New EP ‘Ledisi Sings Nina’

R&B

Nina Simone aficionados are in for a jazzy treat. Ledisi has released Ledisi Sings Nina, a beloved collection of songs made famous by the High Priestess of Soul.

With oversight from frequent studio companion Rex Rideout, this seven-track tribute project features production from Metropole Orkest with Jules Buckley as conductor and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra headed by Adonis Rose.

Led by the gorgeous cover of Simone’s 1965 version of “Feeling Good,” Ledisi Sings Nina also includes reimagined renditions of “Wild Is The Wind” and “Work Song.” She also modernizes “My Baby Just Cares For Me” with references to Halle Berry and Beyoncé.

Ledisi also assembles Lisa Fisher, Lizz Wright, and Alice Smith to redo “Four Women.” A must-listen for sure.

In October, Ledisi will support her latest studio album, The Wild Card, and her other recent projects (Ledisi Live at the Troubadour) on tour across the nation. Kenyon Dixon and Stout are on board as special guests. See the full schedule and ticket details here

In other news, Ledisi will play Mahalia Jackson in a impending biopic called Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story
