Korn’s Jonathan Davis Says This Song Was His Gateway to Rock and Metal

Metal

When one thinks of Korn‘s Jonathan Davis, one assumes that the track which made him a lifelong rocker was by The Cure, or Depeche Mode, or at the latest Nine Inch Nails. But in a new interview, the nu-metal frontman has revealed that it was something a little more old-school which led him to the well of the riff.

As reported by The Pit, Davis recently spoke to Lipps Service and talked about the song that he thought made him a rock addict:

“The first time I remember any kind of rock thing, that I remember that sparked me was when I heard ‘Whole Lotta Love’ from Led Zeppelin. I put that record on and that kind of like, ‘wow.’ That grabbed me somehow, and that sent me down that like ‘oh, I want to check [this out].’ I was very, very young.

“I actually have that console still to this day that I heard that first Led Zeppelin record on. I keep it and when I want to be inspired, that’s like an object that totally inspired me from my childhood that I still… I have it in the studio. Sometimes I go sit and just stare, touch it just get some inspiration because it was like… it’s like a good luck charm for me.”

There you go — a little less stygian than we expected, but still a solid choice.
