Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Slipknot‘s celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album and as such, they’re planning a buncha special shows celebrating that fact. You may also know they do this little festival all over the world called Knotfest where they get a buncha bands to play with them. Well, both of those facts are major players in the announcement earlier today that Knotfest Iowa’s happening this year with a damn good lineup of acts.
Setting aside the fact that we’ll get another 25th anniversary set from Slipknot, this year’s bill includes some major bands, with Till Lindeman from Rammstein, Knocked Loose, and Hatebreed being some of the key bands near the top of the bill. Other acts include Poison the Well, GWAR, Vended, Dying Wish, Zulu, Twin Temple, Holy Wars, Swollen Teeth, and Spine & Dose.
This year’s festival will take place at Waterworks Park in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, September 21. That location is especially important to Slipknot, as it’s adjacent to downtown Des Moines and it’s where the band played on the Tattoo The Earth tour back in 2000.
Slipknot recently played their first two 25th anniversary sets over the last few days, with the first being an intimate show in the California desert and the second taking place during Sick New World in Las Vegas. The band have plans to tour the nostalgic set throughout Europe and U.K., as well as Mexico.
This year’s Knotfest Iowa will also feature a redone Knotfest Museum, which will feature a collection of artifacts and various items from the band’s history, including all the way back to 1999.
Tickets for the festival will go on sale to the general public starting at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, May 3, with tickets starting at $125. Premium pre-sale tickets will be available at Knotfest.com from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. CT starting at $99.50, with regular general subscriber pre-sale tickets being available tomorrow at noon CT.
