Well, that didn’t take long. I know we reported earlier today about the fact that Kittie might be teasing their next album pretty soon, but it turns out “pretty soon” was less than 12 hours away. Just moments ago, Jose Mangin of Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal announced that the Canadian foursome would be debuting their first new song in 13 years, “Eyes Wide Open,” on his show.
Kittie has seen a bit of a resurgence as of late, thanks in large part to the nostalgic nu-metal wave that’s been sweeping the scene for the last year or so (not that they’re necessarily nu-metal, mind you). Remember, it had been five years since Kittie took the stage together when they played their first show back at 2022’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival. And even with all that time away, Morgan Lander, her sister Mercedes Lander, Tara McLeod, and Ivana “Ivy” Vujlc sounded fucking sick together.
According to Mangin, the new song will start airing tonight at midnight EST (9 p.m. PST) and will continue in the rotation every hour all day tomorrow. So you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch the song for the first time and then to hear it multiple times throughout your Tuesday doldrums.
There’s a pretty good chance that this could be the song they teased during their performance at last year’s Sick New World, but we don’t really know. All we do know is that Kittie’s been busy in the studio with producer Nick Roaskulinecz.
So there ya have it. New Kittie for your ear holes tomorrow. And while it’s exclusively debuting on Sirius XM, I wouldn’t doubt it’ll be up online shortly after that.
