Kehlani Releases New Single Out the Window

R&B

Kehlani is deep in her 2000s R&B bag. As her breakout hit “Folded” continues to climb the charts, the singer has shared her new single, “Out the Window.”

Produced by Antonio Dixon and Khris Riddick-Tynes, “Out the Window” finds Kehlani begging an ex for a second chance: “Baby, I want you / I’m focused, it’s overdue / Don’t throw it out the window.”

Kehlani doesn’t just ask her estranged lover for grace; she takes accountability for her actions and pledges to do right going forward. “The late nights, the half-truths / I was reckless / Let me prove to you / I’ll throw them out the window,” she sings with conviction.

“Out the Window” is a pleasant follow-up to “Folded” that builds on the overarching story we’re seeing in this era. Whereas “Folded” is more of an indirect plea to rekindle things, “Out the Window” sounds like Kehlani is standing outside of her ex’s place, singing in the rain. The slight rasp in her voice intensifies the emotional lyrics.

As indicated above, “Out the Window” is Kehlani’s second single of the year, following “Folded,” which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (her first top 10 hit). Both songs will appear on her highly anticipated new album, which will follow 2024’sCrash.
