Kali Uchis has earned her first RIAA award of the year. Her single “Moonlight” has been certified gold, exceeding over 500,000 equivalent units sold.
“Moonlight” marks Uchis’ first musical release from her latest album, Red Moon In Venus, to score a certification.
It’s also her first solo singles award since April 2022 when “Telepatía” advanced to 2x multi-platinum. The song appears on her Grammy-nominated album, Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞.
Circling back to “Moonlight,” it was the second single released ahead of Red Moon In Venus. The bilingual track, co-produced by Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Leon Michels, reached No. 9 and No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs and R&B Streaming Songs charts, respectively. It also peaked at No. 80 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Red Moon In Venus was released March 3 on Geffen Records. It features Summer Walker, Omar Apollo, and Don Toliver.
The album entered No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking her first top ten entry. It also opened at No. 2 on both Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Of her new album, Uchis previously said, “Love is the message. Red Moon In Venus is a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus.”
“The moon and Venus work together to make key aspects of love and domestic life work well. This body of work represents all levels of love—releasing people with love, drawing love into your life and self-love. It’s believed by many astrologers that the blood moon can send your emotions into a spin, and that’s what I felt represented this body of work best.”
The lead single, “I Wish you Roses,” also was embraced on various Billboard charts upon its release.
This September, Uchis will embark on the second installment of her headlining Red Moon In Venus Tour. Supporting the new run, which starts Sept. 22 in San Diego, is Tokischa. Get tickets and more information at kaliuchis.com.
