Justin Timberlake Is Feeling ‘Selfish’ on New Song

R&B

Justin Timberlake is back. The legendary singer has kicked off a new era with “Selfish,” the lead single from his sixth album, Everything I Thought It Was

He produced the song with Louis Bell and Cirkut, who also helped him write it, along with Theron Thomas and Amy Allen

“Selfish” finds Timberlake grappling with his insecurities in a relationship. He’s so enamored by his lover that even the thought of him being replaced (“I don’t want any other guys takin’ my place”) unsettles him.

“So if I get jealous, I can’t help it / I want every bit of you, I guess I’m selfish / It’s bad for my mental, but I can’t fight it, when / You’re out lookin’ like you do, but you can’t hide it, no,” Timberlake croons on the chorus.

“Selfish” is paired with a video directed by Bradley Calder. The visual “brings the introspectiveness of the song to life by pulling back the curtain on the production process and blending the line between performance and reality.”

As noted above, “Selfish” is the first single from Timberlake’s album, Everything I Thought It Was, out March 15 on RCA Records. Fans can preorder the album now, which will be available digitally as well as on CD and vinyl.

The 18-track album is the follow-up to 2018’s Man of the Woods, which dropped two days before his headlining Super Bowl LII Halftime Show performance.
