Joyce Wrice Demands Pleasure on Break Me In

R&B

Joyce Wrice knows what she wants and doesn’t hesitate to say it on “Break Me In,” her new single out via BMG.

Produced by Malik Ninety Five and Mike Baretz, “Break Me In” evokes the richness of early 2000s R&B, with knocking percussion and breezy strings reminiscent of Amerie’s debut era.

Wrice’s airy vocals float over the lush production as she aches for a physical release that can only be achieved with her lover.“When I touch myself, it’s not the same / I need you to break me in / Don’t make me wait,” she sings.

“Break Me In” follows Wrice’s 2022 EP,Motive, which included the Kaytranada-produced “Iced Tea.” Since then, Wrice has collaborated with several artists, including Isaiah Falls (“Butterflies”), Jordan Ward (“Sidekick”), Mahalia (“In My Head”), ESTA. (“Too Fast”) and Jaz Karis (“Alright”).

Beyond music features, Wrice also collaborated with JD Sports x Adidas and Gap.

“Break Me In” is the first taste from Wrice’s sophomore album, which will be released later this year. The album will follow 2021’sOvergrown.

Speaking on her debut LP, Wrice told Rated R&B, “I had some experiences and went through a lot of different emotions and lost myself. I was able to use these studio sessions as opportunities to put how I’m feeling in song form and take what I was writing in my journal into the music.”
