Jordin Sparks Returns With New Single ‘Call My Name’

R&B

Jordin Sparks has returned with her new single “Call My Name.”

She co-wrote the track with previous collaborator and the song’s producer Dem Jointz (Janet Jackson, Anderson .Paak, Chris Brown).

Sparks’ powerful yet angelic vocals soar over a nostalgic production as she feels invincible whenever her lover utters her name. “Feel like I can take on anything when you / You call my name,” she sings.

Discussing the new single, Sparks calls it “an ode to a love so full, so effortless and pure—there’s a peace and contentment within it. ” She adds, “You’ve all witnessed my rocky road in love and now you can heart the culmination of what I’ve learned and now know in my bones.”

“Call My Name” is the second solo release by Sparks this year, following “Stop This Feeling.” It offers a sneak peek of her upcoming untitled album, which is set to release in 2024.

It is uncertain whether “Stop This Feeling” and “You Still Think of Me” will be included in the album. The latter track, released in February 2021, was given a supporting video directed by Sean Alexander.

Sparks’ next album will follow her 2015 album, Right Here, Right Now. The LP, released on Salaam Remi’s imprint Louder Than Life in conjunction with Sony Music, debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.

Right Here, Right Now included the popular single “Double Tap” featuring 2 Chainz. The track entered and peaked at No. 25 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. The album also features B.o.B, Shaggy, J-Doe and Elijah Blake

Sparks continued her collaboration with Blake as the duo 199∞. They released an EP called 1990 Forever in 2019, and reunited this year for their latest release “Deux.”

Sparks accomplished a major feat this year by achieving her first No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Christian Airplay and Christian AC Airplay charts.

She was featured on “Love Me Like I Am” by For King & Country, which spent five weeks at the top of the latter list and two weeks at the summit of the former list.
