Johnny Depp’s Legal Team Grills Amber Heard On Alleged Assault With A Liquor Bottle In Cross-Examination This Week

The ongoing legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues, with today marking the latter’s second day on the stand for cross-examination. Yesterday saw the actress sharing her theory where the infamous poop left in Depp’s bed came from that had originally been attributed to her, as well as revealing that her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom had been reduced. Today has seen Heard responding to Depp’s claim that she wrote her 2018 op-ed about living with domestic abuse in order to sell Aquaman tickets, and shortly thereafter, she was grilled by Depp’s legal team about when her ex-husband allegedly assaulted her with a liquor bottle.

For those who haven’t been following the Depp v Heard trial closely, earlier this month, Amber Heard recalled an incident back in March 2015 where Johnny Depp allegedly threw a bottle of Maker’s Mark bourbon, then picked up the bottle, held it against her face and neck area, said he’s “cut up” her face and then inserted the bottle into her. During today’s cross-examination, as reported by The New York Post, Camille Vasquez, one of Depp’s attorneys, pressed Heard on why there were no medical records of the assault despite the actress having claimed her feet were cut up and was bleeding, to which Heard said she “didn’t seek treatment.”  Vasquez also questioned Heard about how the lead-up to this alleged assault unfolded, to which heard responded:

As I have always said, I don’t remember exactly what happened first, or the sequence.

Amber Heard previously testified that she feared the bottle that had been inserted inside of her had been broken, although a photograph taken of the bottle after the incident that was shared in court showed it was still intact. Weeks back during the trial, Johnny Depp claimed he was the actual victim in this incident that happened while the couple were newlyweds and in Australia while Depp was shooting Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. According to Depp, Heard threw a vodka bottle at him that severed his finger when it shattered. Heard responded to that accusation in court today with the following:

I didn’t assault Johnny in Australia. I didn’t assault Johnny ever.

Amber Heard was also pressed during her cross-examination today about a series of love notes Amber Heard wrote Johnny Depp in the months after the incident with the bottle. In one of them, Heard wrote, “True love isn’t just about the madness of passion … it’s about your best friend. I want to rip you apart,” and in another, she wrote that Depp was “last person I ever meant to hurt” and that “there is never a good enough reason to hurt you.” Heard said that most of Depp’s assaults happened while he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and after what happened in Australia, she believed Depp was committed to getting sober after hitting “rock bottom.” She then said:

When things were good, they were really good.

The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been going since April 11, and thanks to both their testimonies being available on TV, the public discourse surrounding this legal drama is showing no signs of dying down. Amber Heard’s sister, White Henriquez, is also expected to testify at some point, and last week saw Heard’s side of the case suffering a minor setback through the judge not allowing a photo of her bloodied lip not being allowed into the trial record.
