Jhené Aiko has received a new Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certification.
“When We Love,” lifted from her 2017 album, Trip, has been certified gold with 500,000 equivalent units sold.
The heartwarming song, produced by Noel Cadastre, has garnered over 28 million streams on Spotify alone.
“When We Love” is Aiko’s sixth RIAA award this year. She received certifications for the following songs as the lead act: “Lyin King” (gold); “While We’re Young” (3x multi-platinum); “None of Your Concern” featuring Big Sean (2x multi-platinum); “Above and Beyond” (gold).
Aiko also scored a gold plaque for her feature on rapper Moneybagg Yo’s song “One of Dem Nights” in April.
Circling back to Trip, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA in September 2022 for selling more than one million equivalent units. It marked Aiko’s second album to receive a platinum award, following her Grammy-nominated album Chilombo in 2021.
In April, Aiko surprised fans with a rejuvenating tune titled “Calm & Patient.” “A new @jheneaiko era is upon us, Taking it back to simpler times, when we just put music out for the love of it. Apologies @defjam and tea, this one is for the Soulmates,” wrote Aiko’s manager, in an Instagram Stories post.
The following month, Aiko returned with “Alive & Well (Gratitude Mantra),” a 10-minute, soul-nourishing track.
Aiko shared that the song was meant “to accompany you in times of sickness and/or when you are in need of a sense of well-being.” She also noted it as “a great companion to meditation, breath work and yoga,” and “can be used upon waking, before falling asleep and for general relaxation.”
At this time, Aiko has not officially announced a project to host “Calm & Patient” and “Alive & Well.”
