Jenevieve Releases Sophomore Album ‘CRYSALIS’: Stream

R&B

Alternative R&B singer-songwriter Jenevieve has delivered her sophomore album,CRYSALIS, via Interscope Records.

After previewing it with “Haiku,” “Head Over Heels” and the title track, Jenevieve welcomes listeners to fully immerse in the world she crafted over the last few years with producer Elijah Gabor.

Together, they created an immaculate body of work built on a retro-soul soundscape. “I spent the last couple years making this with @elijahgbr and I went through a lot during this time,” Jenevieve wrote an Instagram post.

She added, “CRYSALIS is about protecting your energy. It’s a safe space. It’s about not letting outside pressures get to you, and doing what you believe in.”

Among the album’s standout moments is the groove-ready “Hvn High.” Over a divine bassline, Jenevieve sings of a love that transcends time and space: “In the night, we do our thing / On the level, we keep goin’ up / We’re goin’ up / Baby, pull up in that thing I just love the way you lift me up.”

“Hvn High” arrives with a Maya Table-directed video that shows the 27-year-old singer enjoying a night on the town with friends.

CRYSALIS is Jenevieve’s first album since 2021’s DIVISION, which included her breakout hit “Baby Powder” as well as standouts like “Résumé.”

In 2022, she returned with her Rendezvous EP. In the same year, she appeared on the Target edition of Babyface’s album Girls Night Out on the penultimate track “Sometimes.”
