Jae Stephens Keeps Her Options Open on New Song ‘SMH’

R&B

Jae Stephens has so many hoes — at least according to her new song “SMH,” out now via Raedio/Def Jam.

The summer-ready anthem, produced by Rykeyz, is driven by ’80s synths built to break a sweat on the dancefloor. Lyrically, Stephens boasts about a list of men in her rotation with no strings attached.

“I got Chris, I met online / Sean aint s—t but he so fine / I might be theirs, but they ain’t mine / I got so so so so, so many / H*es,” Stephens purrs in the chorus.

“SMH” arrives with an official music video directed by Andrpw. It features cameos from fellow singer Maeta, who helps Stephens host an audition for her ideal man, as well as TA Thomas, Brandon Banks and Larry Van Buren. Who does she end up choosing? You’ll have to watch the video below to find out.

“SMH” is Stephens’ first song of 2025 and follows her 2024 EP, SELLOUTThe latter project included catchy tracks like “Body Favors,” “WET” and “Girls Don’t Cheat.”

SELLOUT is me stepping into a light that I’ve wanted to dance in for a long time,” said Stephens. “I had so much fun making this project, and my hope is that everyone who listens will feel the same confident, carefree energy come through each song the same way I did while writing them!”

Stephens is set to join R&B trio FLO on their Access All Areas Tour in May. Her first show on the tour is May 3 in Chicago, with additional performances in Detroit, Minneapolis, San Diego, Los Angeles and more.
