Jack Freeman Drops ‘The Gift’ EP, Produced by Bryan-Michael Cox

R&B

Jack Freeman is spreading holiday joy this season. The emerging R&B heartthrob has released his festive EP, The Gift, via Bryan-Michael Cox‘s Illustrate New Ideas.

The five-track set includes Freeman’s rendition of “The Christmas Song” and original tracks such as “Feels Like Christmas,” which Freeman co-wrote with Cox.

On the latter velvety track, Freeman sings about wanting to spend quality time with his woman after being away on the road.

“Tell me what you need / Don’t hesitate baby / Trying to make every day feel like Christmas / Let me know so you can have whatever you want / I’m talking about private trips to Anguilla / Ain’t another n—a realer / I don’t mind / I love spending it all on you,” he sings in the chorus.

On the central title track, Freeman romantically croons, “Girl, you’re just a gift that keeps on giving / Can’t wait to show my friends just how I’m living.”

The Gift also includes the seductive jam “Red Light,” which first appeared on Freeman’s third album, Nina, released in February. As part of his new project release, the Houston native has unveiled the official music video for it.

Speaking on his new EP, Freeman says, “I’ve always dreamed of creating a holiday project that feels authentic, joyful, and timeless. Bryan and I focused on centering Black music, particularly R&B, honoring the legacy of the greats while leaving my own unique mark.”

Cox adds, “The Gift is a tribute to the spirit of Christmas, inspired by themes of giving, joy, and peace. Through these songs, we sought to enjoy the essence of the holiday season and its messages of hope and unity.”

As indicated above, The Gift is the follow-up to Freeman’s third LP, Nina, released Feb. 16. The project included standouts like “U N D R E S S,” “MVP” and “Shine.”

Over the summer, Freeman teamed with R&B group Jagged Edge for an official “U N D R E S S (Remix).”

“When I started to conceptualize Nina, I wanted to create songs that resonate amongst lovers. My objective was to lean into love and all the things that accompany it,” said Freeman.
