Fans of H.E.R. won’t have to wait much longer for her debut album to drop. Today, the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter announced her first proper album, Back Of My Mind, will release on June 18 via MBK Entertainment/RCA Records.
She shared a trailer for Back Of My Mind, where she briefly spoke about the inspiration behind the title.
“People always ask me, what’s the message? Where does, where does this come from? Is it personal experience? And it’s always the thoughts that sit in the back of my mind,” H.E.R. said.
“It’s always things that I’ve been through, things that I go through or that I feel and all those thoughts that I think I’m afraid to say sometimes — or that we’re afraid to say — things that feel too honest or too vulnerable, or too emotional or too aggressive. It’s all of those things that have been in the back of my mind for the past few years, since my first project. It’s like a peek into my soul,” she added before a snippet of her track “We Made It” is played in the background.
In April, H.E.R. teamed up with Chris Brown for her latest single “Come Through,” which was produced by Cardiak. Last month, her Herb Alpert-sampled track “Damage” was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Back Of My Mind will follow the 23-year-old’s previously released projects H.E.R. Vol. 1, H.E.R. Vol. 2, I Used to Know Her: The Prelude and I Used to Know Her: Part 2.
