GWAR to Release New Album The New Dark Ages This Summer

Metal

It’s hard to a better way to kick off the start of summer than with a new GWAR record — so I’m pleased as punch to report that the band will be releasing their FIFTEENTH studio album, The New Dark Ages, on June 3.

Not only that, but the very same day Dark Ages drops, Z2 Comics will release an accompanying graphic novel, GWAR in the Duoverse of Absurdity, in which “the band are sucked off into an alternate universe to do battle with their evil twins and the specter of rogue technology.” I suspect the title (and maybe the concept?) is meant to be a play on Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is scheduled for release just about a month prior to the new GWAR offerings, and which will also feature its titular hero doing battle with his evil twin.

GWAR frontman Blöthar the Berserker comments:

“This is the greatest rock record of all time. These are the songs for a new age, a New Dark Age, when men live by the dimming light of a technology destined to betray them. Listen, as we have a rock and roll orgy in the ruins of the world to celebrate humanity’s descent into an age of darkness, disease, ignorance, and death.”

The New Dark Ages is available for pre-order now in a wide variety of packages including various knick-knacks. Worth noting: the band is releasing The New Dark Ages via their own label, Pit Records. That will make it one of the few GWAR full-lengths not to be released by Metal Blade.

I don’t have a point. I just think it’s interesting, that’s all.

As you were.
