Happy Ghostface Killah Day!

Hip hop veteran and Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah was given May 9, his very own day in New York City.

On Monday (May 9), which so happens to be his birthday, the 52-year-old rapper was honored the official proclamation by New York City Mayor Eric Adams for his ongoing contributions in the music industry and the community.

The ceremony coincided with the grand opening of Ghostface’s new coffee shop, Killah Koffee in his hometown of Staten Island. Prior opening the store, Ghost and his business partners Ross Filler and Shawn Wigs sold their product online.

“There’s so many people coming out here seeing a performer, a young person who grew up here who lived in public housing and went to public school, and now is able to have a business out here; just coming back to the community,” Mayor Adams said. “That’s what it’s all about. So we just want to say, thank you. Thank you for reinvesting.”

Ghost added, “I love each and every one of y’all for coming. God bless,” while saying he was “grateful and humbled” by the gesture.
