Grammy-nominated alt-R&B singer Gallant has joined forces with Wooyoung, from the K-pop band ATEEZ, for his new song “underpressure!”

The synth-laced groove, co-written by Gallant, Maddox, and Eden (이든), captures a couple whose love is put to the test. Rather than calling it quits, Gallant is committed to easing their tension.

“The bad days hit us like an earthquake / Volcanic, then we panic / But tell me that you won’t let go / Even if the sinking feeling grows,” Gallant croons. He later asks in the chorus, “Would you still love me when we’re under pressure?”

Wooyoung appears in the second verse, singing, “Never thought that we would end up like this / Used to keep it low, while dancing with risk / Counting all the scars we never showed.”

“Underpressure!” is Gallant’s second collaboration of 2025 following his feature on Ralph Castelli’s soft rock-driven “12 Feet Deep,” which was released in February. The song appears on Castelli’s albumHope, Alaska.

In September 2024, Gallant released his third album, Zinc., via Mom + Pop. It marked his first full-length project since 2019’s Sweet Insomnia, which was issued under Warner Records, as well as his Grammy-nominated debut, Ology.

Zinc. included the singles “Coldstar.,” “Fly On the Wall. (Osaka Version),” “Crimes of Compassion.,” and “Centigrade.” featuring Nao.

“For Zinc., I really nailed the aspects of the songwriting,” Gallant told Rated R&B in an interview. “The writing is specific. Sometimes I’m like, “Why did I say that in the song?” which I like because it means I’m being as raw as possible. As a music listener, I love when people are baring their souls. This album has a lot of that.”

Gallant is currently on the second leg of his headlining Zinc Tour. The genre-defying artist delivered an epic show at Washington, D.C.’s The Atlantis on Thursday night (June 12).

During his electrifying set, the Columbia, Maryland, native performed “underpressure!” for the packed crowd. It was his third time performing the song live.

On June 1,Wooyoung joined Gallant on stage at the Seoul Jazz Festival in South Korea for their first live performance of “underpressure!”

After, the song was officially released June 10 via Mom + Pop, Gallant added it to his setlist for his show in Toronto that same night.
