It’s been nine long years, but U.S. extreme metal titans Inferion are back with their diverse and crushing new album Inequity, which Decibel proudly streams ahead of its May 19 release through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.
“After nine years of writing, shifting gears, battling a pandemic and other life happenings, we are proud to return with this new album,” the band shared in a statement to Decibel.
“Inequity was born organically, written in the room together, and comes from a place of true human interaction and inspiration. We are grateful to Mike at HPGD for partnering with us yet again for this album’s release, and are pleased to debut it in its entirety in tandem with our friends at Decibel magazine.”
Inequity sees the combined forces of Frank Gross (vocals, bass), Nick Reyes (vocals, guitar), Ray Mitchell (guitar) and Elan O’Neal (drums, BGV) at their most potent and versatile.
The long-awaited followup to 2014’s This Will Decay sees the near 30-year metal vets uncork a 55-minute sonic talisman of melo-death madness akin to the the rise of the Gothenburg sound of the 90s, complete with black metal leanings and some surprises that will raise the eyebrows of even the longtime Inferion faithful.
Drum engineering comes courtesy of Studio Wormwood (Fires In The Distance, Stone Healer), with mixing and mastering by Robert Kukla of Obsidian Studious (Aeon, Obscura, Hammerall) in the famed Studio Fredman facility in Sweden.
