I don’t know about you, but I’m stoked for the show tonight. What show? Ah, I’m seeing Sacramentum. I wasn’t sure I’d ever get the opportunity to see the masters behind Far Away From the Sun, so this is a real treat. I eagerly await my entrance into the storm of melodic riffs, haunting growls and tom rolls. So many tom rolls.

Invulation – Feral Legion
And now for something completely evil. The terms “war metal” and “bestial death metal” tend to get overused, but they really do fit in this case. I’d like to congratulate the band on making something truly wicked and intimidating on this album. I’d also like to congratulate them on not making an songs about goats.

Ringworm – Seeing Through Fire
Most of you should be familiar with Ringworm. I mean that in both tenses, in that it’s very probable and highly suggested that you know about this metallic-hardcore institution. A lot of 2000s-style hardcore has become so rote and predictable, but somehow Ringworm brings a special breed of ferocity to their sound that it never gets boring.

Spirit Adrift – Ghost At The Gallows
Spirit Adrift are one of the best practitioners of what became known in the 2010s as “new-old-school heavy metal.” They’ve since earned a special place in our hearts here at Decibel, and this excellent entry into their sonic pantheon promises to continue that legacy into perpetuity. The song structures, guitar-interplay, rhythms, and vocal deliver are just so damn good. I’m not even a big fan of this style, as usually the vocals are terrible, but this is just different, man.
