Genre-bending singer-songwriter Eric Bellinger has teamed with Konshens for his new single “Special.”
On the groove-tinged track, which delectably blends R&B and afrobeats, Bellinger shows appreciation for his woman and reaffirms his devotion to her.
“Baby girl, you’re special / Woman of my dreams / Don’t need another ting / How could I ever let go?” Bellinger sings.
Konshens appears in the second verse, singing, “That’s what I need in my life, baby / Every bad man need a special lady.”
“Special” is the first taste from Bellinger’s upcoming album, It’ll All Make Sense Later, which is set to release Nov. 22. The project will see Bellinger explore more afrobeat sounds, marking the dawn of a new era.
“I’ve always stayed pretty true to R&B in the past, whether it be slow or uptempo/club or bedroom vibes,” says Bellinger. “But with this project, I felt the need to dance. To celebrate. To be triumphant. Each project, I’ve always challenged myself to see what I could do next and the first place my heart chose to go was Afro!”
Regarding the album’s title inspiration, Bellinger reveals, “I look at this album like a Faith Walk. Believing that what God has waiting for me on the other side is far greater than what presents itself in the now. So much so that I can confidently move knowing It’ll All Make Sense Later. Trusting fully in the vision.”
In addition to Konshens, It’ll All Make Sense Later will include features from Oxlade, Reekado Banks, Taves, and Vscript.
Ahead of the album’s release, Bellinger will premiere the official video for “Special” on Nov. 1.
It’ll All Make Sense Later will follow Bellinger’s The Rebirth 3: The Party & The Bedroom, which was released in March. The double album included songs like “All for Me,” “La Perla,” and “Gang Slide” with Mozzy.
For The Rebirth 3, Bellinger also collaborated with Ne-Yo, Tone Stith, Queen Naija, Zae France, K Camp, and more.
On Aug. 30, Bellinger released The Rebirth 3: Remixes & More. The nine-song EP included three new tracks: “Round 3,” “Chase” with Jastin Martin and “Don’t Say a Word.”
The other six tracks are remixes of songs from the original album, such as “La Perla (Remix)” with Vedo, “Drop (Remix) featuring Sevyn Streeter, and “Backstage (Remix)” with J. Valentine.
