Earth, Wind & Fire Enlists Lucky Daye for New Song ‘You Want My Love’

R&B

If there’s one newcomer in R&B whose warmth and intimacy bleeds through vocally and sonically on the frequency of Earth, Wind & Fire, it’s probably Lucky Daye.

The New Orleans singer-songwriter gets an opportunity to represent his new age style alongside the celebrated band with “You Want My Love,” a redo of their classic “Can’t Hide Love.”

The legendary Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Demonte Posey produced the new track, and it finds Daye calling for his woman to lay down her guard and let him in her heart.

In a statement, Babyface said, “The goal was to create a reimagined version of this classic song that reflects Lucky’s unique voice and musical style, while still honoring the original.”

Collaborating with Daye and Babyface was a treat for Earth, Wind & Fire, with the band’s lead vocalist Philip Bailey adding, “It was an honor to join forces with these two superstars, and I truly believe we’ve created a winner all the way.”

The release of “You Want My Love” coincides with the 45th anniversary of the group’s timeless “Can’t Hide Love,” which was released as a B-side to their 1975 track “Gratitude.” The song was first released by the band Creative Source two years earlier.

More collaborations like “You Want My Love” are expected to be issued by the band soon through Universal Music Enterprises (UMe).

Earth, Wind & Fire’s last proper studio album, Now, Then & Forever, came out in 2013. It featured the jazz and R&B radio singles “My Promise” and “Guiding Lights.”

Most recently, Daye joined VanJess for their “Slow Down (Remix)” and BJ The Chicago Kid’s “Make You Feel Good,” taken from his 4 AM EP.

Earlier this year, Daye released Table For Two, an all-female duet project that features Ari Lennox, Yebba, Joyce Wrice, Tiana Major9, Mahalia, and Queen Naija.

This fall, Daye is set to play H.E.R.’s Lights On Festival in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C.
