Dinner Party Announces New Album ‘Enigmatic Society’

R&B

How often have you not been serious about finding love, and suddenly, like a random guest, it comes knocking at your doorstep? Singer Arin Ray gets swept off his feet on “For Granted,” the latest song from Dinner Party, on which he is featured.

With valuable support from the supergroup, composed of Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin and 9th Wonder, Ray softly croons atop a drippy production about holding tight to an unexpected lover.

“For Granted” is Dinner Party’s second collaboration this year, following the March release of “Insane” featuring Ant Clemons. The record, which made present use of Mtume’s 1983 hit “Juicy Fruit,” arrived with a visual directed and animated by Juppi Juppsen.

“Insane” and “For Granted” will appear on Dinner Party’s newly announced sophomore album, Enigmatic Society, which arrives on April 14. It’s the follow-up to their lauded 2020 self-titled album and its Dessert continuation, which earned a Best Progressive R&B Album nod in 2022.

In addition to Ray and Clemons, Enigmatic Society will include features from Phoelix and Tank. Ray, who released the album Hello Poison last year, does not appear on just one song but three, including “Breathe” and “Love Love,” both not yet shared.

Phoelix, a part of the self-titled album, gets recruited for three Enigmatic Society tracks, including the “Secure” collaboration alongside Tank.

Enigmatic Society is synchronized with Dinner Party’s debut appearance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 15 and April 22.
