Deaf Club Pulls Their Entire Music Catalog from Spotify

Metal

There’s been a growing trend as of late of artists pulling their entire discographies from the popular music streaming platform Spotify. They cite things like shitty pay, poor anti-AI slop protections, and the company’s closeness to AI military hardware as reasons for their removal. All valid reasons, if you ask us…

Earlier today, yet another band joined the cause and pulled all of their music from the service, as Deaf Club posted a pretty pointed and pissed off announcement on social media. Though it was posted entirely in Spanish, we’ve got the translated post and it’s pretty straightforward:

“Deaf Club will always stand with the people, supporting the human rights that all people deserve. We will continue to stand hand in hand with workers and those who care for the land, fighting against the racist, exploitative, and imperialist culture of American capitalism. Therefore, we have removed our music from Spotify so as not to contribute to the war machine. Please consider other music platforms. Follow us, good people!”

Based.

Along with their statement, the band posted an image that had a list of demands for things like fair pay, accountability, privacy, and a list of other demands before finishing the whole thing with a good ol’ “Fuck Spotify”.

This isn’t the first time a band’s taken such a stance. Other acts like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Xiu Xiu, Massive Attack, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and more have pulled their music from the service as a form of protest against the service.

If you’d like to catch Deaf Club live and support their efforts, you can do so if you’re in California over the next few days. Their remaining live shows with Melt Banana are posted below.
