Daniel Caesar Shares New Song ‘Call on Me’

As Daniel Caesar prepares to releaseSon of Spergythis fall, the Grammy winner has unveiled his new track “Call On Me.”

It was co-produced by Caesar, Jordan Evans, Matthew Burnett and Rami Dawod, who all co-wrote it along with Isaac Sterling. On the track, the distorted guitar is smoothened with a reggae-tinged rhythm, while Caesar sings of a love that feels transactional –yet, he doesn’t mind.

He sings in verse two: “You change your energy when we get home / Get what you need and then I’m all alone / Blessings raining down upon me / Baby, it’s no harm if you really want my money / Come and take it from me.”

“Call On Me” is the second single from Caesar’s upcoming fourth album, Son of Spergy, set to release Oct. 24 via Hollace Inc./Republic Records. The album will also include the era-launching “Have a Baby (With Me),” which dropped in late July.

Regarding Son of Spergy, Caesar told Billboard, “It’s about religion, but more importantly, it’s about my father. In your childhood, your father is a lot like God. He’s the person you fear the most on earth and also the person whose love and respect you desire more than anyone else on earth. It’s the source from where all your blessings come.”

Son of Spergy is the follow-up to Caesar’s 2023 album, Never Enough. The project included popular tracks such as “Always,” “Superpowers,” “Let Me Go” and “Valentina.”

Never Enoughdebuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Album chart, which marked his highest-charting project on this list.

Caesar’s upcoming album will be available digitally, 2LP vinyl and CD. The latter two are formats are available for pre-order now at sonofspergy.com.
