Crazy Lixx’s “Anthem for America” is the American Hair Metal Anthem of 2021

Metal

Hair metal was a uniquely American phenomenon. Why, then, are the only recent bands doing it well from other countries? RIDDLE ME THAT, INTERNET! From Girish and the Chronicles (India) to today’s Swedish exports, Crazy Lixx, the kids are alright… everywhere but here.

Crazy Lixx, who have been pumping out quality hair-inspired metal since the early ’00s, have taken on that very topic in their brand new single and video, “Anthem for America,” a hard rock jammer that riffs as hard as Skid Row, grooves deeper than Ratt and grabs you with hooks tighter than Mötley Crüe. Frontman Danny Rexon explains the song’s lyrical inspiration, saying in effect that they just don’t make ’em like they used to:

“‘Anthem for America’ is a call to action for the youth of the US, who seem to have lost touch with rock music. It’s a tongue in cheek reminder of how the US used to be the greatest rock n’ roll nation in the world and it’s up to the kids of today to ‘Make America Rock Again’. Musically, we wanted to pay tribute to the sound, attitude, flair, & groove of the great hair metal anthems of the 80’s/early 90’s.”

Mull that over as you watch the video, replete with those most American of music video clichés: babes, fast cars and power stances!

Crazy Lixx’s next album, Street Lethal, comes out November 5 via Frontiers Music Srl; pre-order here.
