The blaring noise of fire truck sirens will be difficult to silence if Cautious Clay’s heart keeps scorching. On his new single “Wildfire,” the fledgling musician hopes for a strong chance of rain showers to calm the raging flames of a taxing relationship.
“‘Wildfire’ explores the fact that people’s intentions sometimes get lost in translation. Good intention is not always enough to prevent people’s emotions and insecurities from spiraling. Subtle signals or cues can unintentionally ignite emotions—like a brush fire,” Clay explained in a statement.
Tied to the new song is a stripped-down performance where Clay breaks out the guitar and lets his rugged vocals sizzle. Watch it below.
“Wildfire” is another preview of Clay’s upcoming debut album, Deadpan Love, due June 25 via The Orchard. Included on his first release since 2019’s Table of Context are “Karma & Friends,” “Dying In The Subtlety,” “Agreeable,” and “Roots.”
