Body Count Release Second Fan-Created Music Video for “The Hate Is Real”

Metal

Body Count have released a second entry from their recent contest to create a music video for “The Hate is Real.”

Whereas the original winner of the contest, 25-year-old Brooklynite Seby Martinez, made a sock puppet video that (as you can likely guess, given the phrase “made a sock puppet video”) leaned into the silly, this new clip — created by Joerg Harms of Black Visions Films  — uses real footage from Black Lives Matter protests along with original imagery to produce something considerably more provocative.

You can watch the video below.

Body Count won this year’s Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for that album’s track “Bum-Rush,” and recently revealed that they’ve begun work on their next album, which will be called Merciless.
