After 20 years with Warner Music Nashville, Blake Shelton has announced he’ll be moving on.

“I moved to Nashville when I was 17 to sing country music and get a record deal. Along with the support from Warner, my dreams came true, and then some,” the 48-year-old stated about his humble beginnings. “It’s impossible to name everyone who has had a hand in all the success we enjoyed, but a huge and heartfelt thank you to the Giant Records, Warner Bros. Records and Warner Music Nashville staff and family,” he concluded his statement.

Twenty-three years and 11 studio albums later, Shelton has left Warner. “Working alongside Blake these past 23 years has been an honor and a privilege,” Warner Music Nashville said in a statement. “Together, we’ve celebrated a record number of hit songs, sold-out tours and award wins. Blake’s talent is undeniable, but that wit of his, and the countless moments of laughter he’s given us remind us how fun this business of music can be. While our time together has come to an end, we count ourselves amongst his biggest fans and are grateful for the ride with this true gentleman and icon.”

So what’s next for Blake Shelton?

Right now Blake’s plate is plenty full with appearances on Post Malone’s new album, his judging and coaching duties on The Voice, and his upcoming Las Vegas residency, but what should we expect in the way of music releases?

Well, most times when an established artist like Blake leaves their label they’re either looking to get more creative control, better contract terms, or to create their own label imprint, so I fully expect to see new of that sort come out in the very near future.
