BJ the Chicago Kid and Chlöe Perform ‘Honey’ on ‘Tonight Show’

R&B

BJ The Chicago Kid is still on the promo trail for his latest album, Gravy.

The soul singer visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night (Jan. 18) to perform his groovy track “Honey” with Chlöe.

Backed by a three-piece band, BJ and Chlöe, both clad in shimmering brown outfits, delivered a satisfying performance for the first time. Hopefully, we get to see the two vocalists together on stage more in the future.

“Honey” is undoubtedly a standout track on Gravy, released Nov. 10, 2023, on Yeti Beats‘ Reach The World Records and RCA Records.

In an interview with Rated R&B, BJ The Chicago Kid discussed collaborating with Chlöe. “I met Chlöe and her sister (Halle) years ago when her parents were managing them and [they were] super dope and talented. Just to see what they’ve grown into and how creative they are, and honestly, how blessed their careers have been since then, I’ve always been watching,” he told Rated R&B.

BJ also said they always wanted to work together but wanted to find “the perfect thing where it [doesn’t] feel like it was forced.”

Gravy features additional collaborations with Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire, Robert Glasper, Andra Day, Coco Jones, Cory Henry and Freddie Gibbs. Jones appears on “Spend the Night,” another upbeat groove, which they performed at the 2023 Soul Train Awards.

Gravy was ranked No. 4 on Rated R&B’s 25 Best R&B Albums of 2023 list.

BJ The Chicago Kid will join Ledisi on select dates of her The Good Life Tour, which kicks off in March.
