Bilal Announces New Album ‘Live at Glasshaus,’ Shares ‘Something to Hold’

R&B

Bilal has announced his new album, Live at Glasshaus, out June 14 as part of Black Music Month.

The project, which features Questlove, Common, Robert Glasper, and Burniss Travis, was recorded and filmed at Bilal’s intimate show at Glasshaus in Brooklyn.

The 11-track album, which contains two interludes (“Questlove’s Story” and “Common’s Gratitude”), features Bilal’s live rendition of beloved songs from his iconic catalog, such as “Soul Sista” and “Sometimes.”

The first single from Live at Glasshaus is “Something to Hold,” a song recorded during the apex of the Soulquarian era, from Bilal’s unreleased second album, Love for Sale.

Speaking on Live at Glasshouse, Bilal shares, “I felt comfortable to create because I knew I had some of the best motherf*****s in the world playing. I like intimate vibes where everyone’s drawing off the energy in the room. When you’re up there making something and giving, with the people up there listening and receiving, it creates this circular motion of energy; it’s a timeless moment.”

Jarrett Wetherell, founder of Glasshaus Presents and the album’s producer, adds, “The evening felt historic. The audience was floored. So many masters creating in an intimate space together makes for a special production. We’re honored to serve Bilal, an artist in the truest sense.”

Live at Glasshouse is the follow-up to Bilal’s 2015 album, In Another Life. The 12-track effort included features from Kendrick Lamar (“Money Over Love“), Big K.R.I.T. (“Pleasure Toy“), and Kimbra (“Holding It Back”).

In 2020, Bilal released his standalone single “Enough Is All I Need.”
