The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has announced that Ashanti and Mýa will headline the 2023 AIDS Walk Atlanta.

The 32nd annual fundraising event is Saturday, Sept. 23, at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia.

AHF hosts the event to benefit 11 Atlanta-based HIV/AIDS service organizations. This year’s benefiting organizations are:

  • AID Atlanta
  • AIDS Healthcare Foundation
  • A Vision 4 Hope
  • Antioch Urban Ministries
  • Bridge of Light
  • Center for Black Women’s Wellness
  • Front Runners Atlanta
  • Georgia Equality
  • NAESM
  • Recovery Consultants of Atlanta
  • Status: Home

“This annual event offers a time to create a greater awareness of the impact of HIV and AIDS on the local Atlanta community as well as an opportunity to bring together thousands of individuals from across the region to raise critical funds for these 11 worthy organizations,” says Dawn Averill, AHF Atlanta regional director. “AHF is proud to present this event as one of the many ways that we educate and empower the local community to join the fight against HIV and AIDS.”

AIDS Walk Atlanta will begin with a 5K walk/run and will be capped with performances by the R&B legends.

Last month, Mýa celebrated the 20th anniversary of her third album, Moodring, with a digital deluxe edition. The expanded set features nine additional tracks previously unavailable on streaming platforms.

“As we mark the 20th anniversary of Moodring, I can’t help but look back with pride. This album was a turning point, marking my first venture as an executive producer and setting me on a path towards greater autonomy in my career,” said Mýa. “Moodring is more than just music; it’s a testament to my growth as an artist and holds a special place in my heart. With the release of this deluxe version, I’m thrilled to invite fans old and new to experience this cherished project. Here’s to two decades of Moodring and the enduring power of music that connects us all.”

In April, she celebrated the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album with a deluxe edition featuring six bonus tracks.

As for Ashanti, her sophomore album, Chapter II, turned 20 in July. Her self-titled debut album was reissued in March with a deluxe edition to commemorate its 20th anniversary (April 2, 2002). Ashanti (Deluxe Edition) includes several remixes, instrumentals and acapella versions.

In late October 2022, Ashanti released her single “Falling For You” via her Written Entertainment imprint. It was produced by melodic rapper BLEU.
