Ari Lennox is beginning a new music chapter. The Grammy-nominated singer announced the release of her new single “Get Close,” which will be available on Friday, Nov. 17.
Lennox shared the pre-save link for her upcoming song release and shared the official artwork after the 2024 Grammy Awards nominations were revealed.
No additional details are attached to Lennox’s forthcoming single “Get Close.”
“Get Close” is Lennox’s first piece of new music this year and her first proper single, following last year’s “Waste My Time.” The latter track topped R&B radio and Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this spring. It was her third consecutive No. 1 hit on both lists.
“Waste My Time” was lifted from Lennox’s album, age/sex/location, released in autumn 2022. The 12-track album includes previously shared songs “Hoodie,” the Summer Walker-assisted “Queen Space,” and “Pressure.”
The latter track was co-produced by Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Elite and peaked at No. 1 on both R&B radio and Adult R&B Airplay charts last winter, marking Lennox’s first chart-topper on any chart, including radio and Billboard.
Age/sex/location debuted at No. 13 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. It was her second top 20 appearance and third chart entry overall.
The album also opened at No. 69 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Late in 2022, Rated R&B ranked age/sex/location at No. 5 on its 30 Best R&B Albums of 2022 list.
Following this accolade, Lennox embarked on a headlining tour to support the album, with the first leg in North America and the second leg in the UK and Europe.
Lennox is currently on tour with rapper Rod Wave. His Nostalgia Tour concludes on Dec. 19 in Jacksonville, Florida. Other special guests on the bill include Toosii, G Herbo and EELmatic.
In recent news, Lennox has been nominated for two 2023 Soul Train Awards, including Best Female R&B/Soul Artist and Album of the Year (age/sex/location). The ceremony airs Sunday, Nov. 26, at 8 p.m. ET on BET and BET Her. Usher, SZA, and Summer Walker lead with nine each.
