Louis York, the duo composed of Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, has joined forces with Anthony Hamilton for their new single “Alone Alot.”
The sentimental ballad captures the essence of being down on love, to the point of giving up on it, until a special person walks into your life. The stirring lyrics, beautifully sung by Kelly and Hamilton, are accompanied by a delicate guitar harmonizing with the piano and the gentle shimmers of a soft tambourine.
“I’ve been traveling so long / I’m just searching for a heart to call home / Sleeping in a bed that’s cold / Tired of eating all my dinners alone,” Kelly sings in the first verse.
Hamilton enters in verse two, singing, “Been a lot of folks that come and gone / Full of memories of who’ve done me wrong. Then you start to feel like you’re on your own / Until somebody finds you / Open your eyes to a new road.”
“Alone Alot” is a beautiful reminder that even in the depths of loneliness, there’s always a glimmer of hope.
“Alone Alot” follows Louis York’s collaboration with Jessie J, “Heaven Bound.”
“We have a BIG history of hit-making with Jessie J,” Louis York told Rated R&B. “We have topped the charts, broken records and made the world dance several times over. Louis York paired with one of the best singers on the planet is a force of nature. ‘Heaven Bound’ shows the best of all three of us. This duet is from the heart. It’s soulful, anthemic and undeniable.”
“Heaven Bound” and “Alone Alot” will appear on Louis York’s sophomore album, Songs With Friends. The impending album will follow their 2019 debut LP, American Griots.
Hamilton, who received an honorary doctorate in May, recently wrapped up his summer tour. His last album, Love Is The New Black, was released in 2021.
