Andra Day’s Debut Album ‘Cheers to the Fall’ Now Certified Gold

Andra Day has achieved two new awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). 

Her 2015 debut album, Cheers to the Fall, is now certified gold for selling over 500,000 equivalent units. It’s Day’s first project to receive an RIAA award. 

Day’s empowering anthem “Rise Up,” from Cheers to the Fall, has advanced to 4x-platinum, with four million equivalent units sold. It’s Day’s highest certification overall.

Day co-wrote “Rise Up” with Jennifer Decilveo, who co-produced the single with Adrian Gurvitz. 

Speaking of singles, Day recently shared her heartfelt song “Where Do We Go.” It’s the first offering from her upcoming third album, Cassandra, slated to release this spring on Warner Records.

Cassandra is the follow-up to Day’s The United States vs. Billie Holiday soundtrack. The project won Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media at the 64th Grammy Awards in 2022. “Tigress & Tweed,” co-written and produced by Day and Raphael Saadiq, was nominated Best Original Song at the 

Day not only led the soundtrack but also starred as the jazz singer in the film.

She won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama at the 78th Golden Globe Awards in 2021, making history as the second Black woman to win this category. (Whoopi Goldberg was the first Black woman to win for her role as Celie in 1985’s The Color Purple.)

On Feb. 11, Day will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at Super Bowl LVIII, where Usher will headline the halftime show
