Amazon Warehouse Employees Banned From Blasting System of a Down

Apparently, System of a Down isn’t an Amazon warehouse-approved band.

A TikTok user claiming to be an employee at one of the corporation’s distribution warehouses “somewhere in the midwest,” according to her bio, alleges Amazon won’t allow her to play music by the metal band while working.

“THAT’S THE LAST TIME I MAKE A SUGGESTION !!! @systemofadown,” @vialahabibi posted alongside a video of the band’s smash song “Chop Suey” playing in the background, before the music was abruptly changed to Harry Styles‘ “Watermelon Sugar.”

The video currently has 1.3 million views.

In the comments section, @vialahabibi added, “It’s not fair. We’re all adults — we should all be able to enjoy music of our liking playing.”

When one commenter suggested she play the band’s song “Rage,” she responded, “TRIED BUT THEY REJECTED MY REQUEST.”

“Like ‘Watermelon Sugar’ is any more appropriate for a workplace,” another user commented about the warehouse’s replacement song, which is confirmed to be about sex.

“They said ‘wait [we’re] the system,’” another user joked, while yet another person in the comments weighed in, “[They’re] afraid SOAD would start another union revolt.”

In the comments, fellow Amazon employees shared their music selections. One even claimed that they played “Bezos I,” comedian Bo Burnham’s song about Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

“My PA played ‘Du Hast’ and ‘Feuer Frei’ one night after lunch … I think the dude liked Rammstein,” another Amazon worker wrote.

Meanwhile, two other TikTok users wrote that they aren’t even allowed to play music at their warehouses, while a UPS worker claimed that they once played “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.

In an update shared to her TikTok, @vialahabibi shared, “Surprise … our Amazon Warehouse played Tame Impala and not the usual top 40s radio bs that fries my brain like an egg.”
