Amaal Shares New EP ‘Milly’

R&B

Two years after debut EP Black Dove, Somali Canadian singer Amaal returns with Milly, a project named after a fearless alias she embraced early in her career to be artistically free.

Released ahead of the seven-track effort were the first two songs, a lovemaking experience compared to entering the pearly gates (“Heaven”), and a boastful track that blows her beauty whistle (“Honey”).

On “Selfish,” Amaal glows up after a dishonest lover couldn’t stay committed, while she keeps her ears open for the next guy to say something “Special.”

“This project is huge for me,” she said in an Apple Music interview. “It’s pushed me to be fearless and brave, and that’s what Milly symbolizes for me: the beginning of the real me.”
