Rising alt-R&B singer/songwriter Casper Sage has returned with his new EP, Synthesis+.
The project contains six songs, all written by Sage, that are meant to bring light to a dark time. Three tracks were released ahead of Synthesis+: “is this real life?” “FML” and “Flow State.”
“U4EA,” which has hints of Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” in its production, is among the new songs on the project. Here, Sage sings about feeling a sense of bliss following a period of distress.
The uplifting track, which stands for “understanding for everyone around,” is paired with a video that shows Sage catching his groove in a lush green park.
Speaking on his new project, Sage shares, “Synthesis+ is a collection of ‘feel good’ music, but not every message is exclusively that. I consider it music to amplify when you feel good and lighter whenever you’re not.”
He adds, “I would say this EP is the rainbow after the storm; the first day of spring after the winter. Something to remind you of that feeling you were convinced you forgot.”
Synthesis+ is the follow-up to Sage’s Pseudo EP, released in April. The three-song set also includes “FML.”
Sage described Pseudo as “an encapsulation of a moment in time that was filled with purposeful loneliness, chaotic emotional turmoil, and vices trying to cover it all up. [The song selection] really works to represent what it’s like to want people around you when you’re lonely, but constantly feel like you might be better off on your own.”
On Oct. 19, Sage will hit the road with Midwxst on The E3 Tour in Toronto, Ontario. From there, they will hit major North American cities such as Washington, D.C., Chicago, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles. The tour will conclude Nov. 26 in Nashville, Tennessee, where Sage is currently based.
Sage has plenty of material to choose for his setlist. In addition to Synthesis+ and Pseudo, the genre-bending artist has also released his self-titled album in 2022 and Winter in 2019. The latter project is more hip-hop-driven.
Plus, Sage has other standalone tracks like “Rodeo Clown,” a cover of Dijon’s 2021 song, which has nearly 470,000 streams on Spotify at the time of publication.
