Alex Vaughn and Jai’Len Josey to Support Ari Lennox on 2023 Tour

R&B

Ari Lennox has announced the opening acts for her headlining age/sex/location Tour. The Washington, D.C., native will be joined by Alex Vaughn and Jai’Len Josey for the trek.

“Excited to bring these sangin angels on tour with me @jailenjosey and @alexvaughn. See y’all soon,” Lennox wrote in an Instagram caption, with a flyer that consists of sold-out and new dates.

Vaughn also went to Instagram to share her excitement. “Y’all I’m going on my first ever tour w the beautifulllll @arilennox I am beyond honored,” Vaughn wrote.

“I’m going on my first tour ever, and I’m so thankful to God first & always @arilennox,” Josey shared.

If you’re unfamiliar with Josey, she received a co-writing credit on Lennox’s hit single “Pressure.”

The song topped Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in February, making it Lennox’s first No. 1 single.

The certified-gold song served as the lead single from Lennox’s sophomore album age/sex/location

In 2020, Josey released an EP titled Illustrations. “Can’t Do It For Me?” is among Josey’s most popular songs on Spotify, exceeding 516,000 streams.

Throughout this year, Josey has kept active and contributed to several projects. She recorded a song (“Welcome Home“) for Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story, in which Ledisi stars as the Queen of Gospel.

Josey also turned in an original holiday song (“A Hoe’s Christmas”) for Def The Halls, a compilation of standards and originals by Def Jam and 4th & Broadway Records artists.

In October, Vaughn shared her debut project, The Hurtbook, via LVRN/Interscope Records.

“The project started off as a compilation of thoughts from an old relationship but grew into a quilted map of patterns and events that applied to more than just romance,” Vaughn explained.

“It’s about being honest with yourself and how you feel about those changes that are happening. Most importantly it’s a reminder that though these series of events may have hurt you, you are not broken.”

Vaughn recently participated in the Soul Cypher at this year’s Soul Train Awards. Alongside Muni Long, Durand Bernarr and Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, they sang and freestyled over the production of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature,” lifted from his Thriller album.

Lennox’s age/sex/location Tour directly supports her sophomore album of the same title. The follow-up to Lennox’s 2019 debut Shea Butter Baby was released on Sept. 9 via Dreamville/Interscope Records. Summer Walker, Chloë and Lucky Daye make appearances.

Most recently, Lennox performed “Waste My Time” at the 2022 Soul Train Awards. It’s the current R&B radio single from age/sex/location.

At the time of publication, “Waste My Time” is No. 12 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
