Adi Oasis is ready to move on from a lover in her new track “Separate Ways,” out via Unity Records.
The French-Caribbean singer’s first breakup song is less about confrontation and more about self-love. Set against a soulful backdrop, Oasis sings of the grace she extended to her estranged lover, who still “couldn’t figure it out.” Because of this, she must now prioritize her own happiness instead of settling for frustration. “Took a while but I’m moving on / Let’s go our separate ways,” she sings in the chorus.
Speaking on her the Carrtoons-produced track, Oasis notes, “‘Separate Ways’ is actually my first time putting out a breakup song. I think every artist has a good one in their catalogue, so maybe it was about time. Letting go is an inevitable part of growth, whether it’s a partner, a friend, a job, or even a bad habit. Pain is part of love, and moving on is part of growth.”
She adds, “As the feminist that I am, I loved the idea of writing a scenario in which a woman speaks up for herself and tells her partner that what they’re giving her is just not good enough. I’m raising a daughter now, and I want her to learn to love deeply and unconditionally but also to choose herself first.”

“Separate Ways” follows “Silver Lining,” which was released Sept. 12. The latter song, her first collaboration with Carrtoons, is an optimistic anthem about making the best of chaotic times.
“Silver Lining” was inspired by a moment when Oasis went onstage in a hotel bathrobe after an airline lost her luggage. Instead of canceling the show, she made it work. “It turned out to be one of my best shows ever and I learned a huge lesson that night,” said Oasis. “I still try to apply it in my everyday life, and I even developed a secret code word for myself when I need it: just put on a bathrobe.”
Oasis’ work with Carrtoons marks the launch of a new musical era. She released her debut album, Lotus Glow, in 2023, which ranked No. 5 on Rated R&B’s 25 Best R&B Albums list of that year. Lotus Glow included the popular opener, “Le Départ,” plus collaborations with Leven Kali, KIRBY, Jamila Woods, Aaron Taylor and J. Hoard.
In 2024, Oasis released Lotus Glow (Deluxe), which included additional features from Durand Bernarr, Samm Henshaw, Danielle Ponder and more.
